Lab 5 - A Culinary Tradition

Guacamole originated in ancient Mesoamerican civilizations, particularly with the Aztecs in Mexico. The word comes from the Nahuatl "ahuacamolli," meaning "avocado sauce." Originally mashed with a stone mortar and pestle, modern guacamole combines ripe avocados with lime juice, salt, onions, tomatoes, cilantro, and chili peppers. It's a versatile staple, served as a dip, spread, or topping in Mexican cuisine, enjoyed with tortilla chips, tacos, burritos, and more. I chose to make this dish because as simple as it is, I had never attempted to make it myself before! Here are the steps I used in creating this delicious dish:
Ingredients:
- 2 ripe avocados
- 1/4 of a red onion
- Lime juice
- Salt & pepper
- 1 jalapeño
- 1 tomato
- 1/4 cup of cilantro

Step 1 : Dice tomatoes thinly, and add to bowl

Step 2 : Repeat for onion

Step 3 : Repeat with cilantro, then add to bowl and mix

Step 4 : Peel avocados and remove the pit

Step 5 : Mash the avocados in a bowl, until fairly smooth, or to your liking

Step 6 : Dice the jalapeño pepper and remove the seeds, then add to bowl along with the avocados

Step 7 : Add salt, pepper, and lime juice to your liking

Step 8 : Mix all the ingredients together, grab some chips, and enjoy!!
